Donut Kings decided to release this as a download only single because Rikk says "In today’s world, it makes sense to release this as a download only single. iTunes is the largest music store in the world. People are downloading rather than purchasing CDs. It's the new paradigm. It also is better for the environment, and makes financial sense as well. We would have to charge more than a couple bucks for this single if it were on physical CD"
August 4, 2008: We need your help. Donut Kings have been nominated for best experimental/noise band in the 2008 Valley Advocate Grand Band Slam. We won it back in 2000 and we'd like to do it again. Here's what you need to do:
Go to http://valleyadvocate.com/
Look for the banner at the bottom of the page that says GRAND BAND SLAM 2008. Click the banner.
Under category choose experimental/noise. Donut Kings will pop up in the list. Click Donut Kings. THEN GO TO THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE and click "SUBMIT INFORMATION" or your vote will not count. If you want to vote for more categories you can after hitting "Submit Information."

July 29, 2008: We had a great show at Paper City Brewing. Nate's finger held up fine.
May 23, 2008: We unfortunately have to cancel our recently announced gig at Fired Up because Nate got some bad news about his finger. Just when we though things were healing, the Doc said he has to go for surgery. So Nate “Nine 9/10 Fingers” is not so much a joke anymore. If you want to wish Nate well you can send him an email from our Contact page.
May 21, 2008: Things have been a bit slow for the Donut Kings lately, but that's about to change. Let's get you up to date. Nate is recovering from a wood splitting accident that almost left him with only 9 digits. If you hear people calling him "Nine fingers" you'll know why. Marty left the band last fall to peruse fame and glory in the band The Covers, which also features Bob on bass. Donut Kings are back to a three piece for the moment, but are searching for the right person to be the 4th donut.

October 4, 2007: Again some sad news. Frank Lucchesi passed away on Saturday morning. Frank served the musicians of the Pioneer Valley as a master luthier. He was the owner of Lucchesi Vintage Instruments in Easthampton. He has worked on many Rikk's basses dating back to his days at Pizzitola Music in Holyoke. August 5, 2007: Too Youg To Die: 1914, 1917, 1942, 1950, 1964. These are some of the birth years in today's obits. You could say that someone born in 1914 or 1917 lived a long life if they were to die in 2007. But we'd have to agree that 1964 is way too young. Jeff Zomek, founder of Contenental Cablevision's Studio C died Thursday at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. Donut Kings apeared twice in that show in the 1990's. Our condolances go out to Jeff's family and friends. You might remember last year around the very same time we lost Karen Kelly.
May 6, 2007: Seven will be released officially this Thursday. The party will be at Paper City Brewery on Friday (May 11.) Free beer for all. Next Thursday (May 17) the Donut Kings will be on Valley Free Radio WXOJ 103.3 FM between 9-11PM.
April 2, 2007: This is no April Fools! The Donut Kings new single is out and available as a FREE DOWNLOAD right here on our See & Hear page as well as on our MySpace page.
March 30, 2007: Next week the FREE downloadable single Long Time Comin' from the Donut Kings new album will be right here on donutkings.com. We are taking pre-orders for Seven now. Anybody who pre-orders the CD will get a bonus plus the CD will be autographed.
March 24, 2007: It looks like a May release for the new Donut Kings record. The title has been changed to "Seven" because it is the Donut Kings seventh release, and hey seven is our lucky number. The art has been released, and it continues the theme NOTHINGHEAD left off.
March 11, 2007: The band is doing a few last minute tweaks on the new record. It should be off to the pressing plant soon. A tentative release of May/June looks possible. The cover art will be unveiled soon.
January 31, 2007: The Donut Kings have finished the new album. It should be out sometime this spring. The title of the album will be "Donut Kings." Check below for upcoming live shows.

August 15, 2006 Karen Kelly passes away at 42.
Some sad new to report. Karen Kelly passed away on August 9 after a long battle with cancer. The Donut Kings backed Karen on three songs, two of which were released on the Volume Two Compilation. She also recorded a CD "Sands of Time" in 1998. She will be missed. You can read more about Karen on MassLive.com.

January 17, 2006 Happy New Year. The Donut Kings are working on some new material. Wait 'till you hear the new tunes! The DK's hope to record and release a new CD by years end. August 1, 2005 We had such a great time with Marty Irizarry at the Paper City show that he will be joining us on a regular basis. Can you say Marty Donut!?! Marty has played guitar in bands across the county and Puerto Rico. We are excited to have Marty aboard as the new "fourth" Donut King.

Donut Kings will come out of hiding for a show at Mixer's, 645 Sullivan Ave. South Windsor, CT on Thursday April 8, the day before Good Friday.
Donut Kings start around 9:00.
Plastic Box and Ex Inferus are also playing.
They have a few microbrews on tap and also pool tables, and video games.
July 14, 2001. It was a fun gig.
We do have a very special gig this Saturday. We will be playing a benefit show for Alan Timmons. Alan has ALS. For more ALS info: see ALS Website.. Some people know ALS as Lou Gehrig's disease. It will be a night of comedy. The lineup will be:

Tickets are $20 to $10 (sliding scale) or 10 cents a pound. Tickets available at the door. For reservations call 802-254-7076.
This all takes place on Saturday July 14 at 6:00PM at the West Village Meeting House on South Street in West Brattleboro. The show should be over around 10:00PM just in time for a Beer at McNeil's or for you old farts early enough for you to get home before bedtime.
Directions: 91 N to Vermont exit 2. Turn right onto Rt. 9 west. Approximately 2 miles on Rt. 9 is an intersection with a Congregational church and fire station on left. At that intersection turn left onto South St. Follow signs for West Village Meeting House.

The Donut Kings and guitarist Bob Haberern are once again nominated for Best Alternative/Eclectic and Best Guitarist respectively in the Valley Advocate's Grand Band Slam 2001. Thanks to all who voted. Unfortunatly the DK's did not win this year.
The Donut Kings are also climbing the charts on mp3.com. The week of May 10, 2000 they were number one in the Springfield, MA chart. and number 19 in the Massachusetts chart. There are free downloads and a special mp3.com only CD for sale.
